Africa is the world’s second-largest and second-most-populous continent. It is considered by most paleoanthropologists to be the oldest inhabited territory on Earth, with the human species originating from the continent.
The name Africa, from the Greek aphrike ( ἀφρίκη ) –without cold — originally referred only to present-day Tunisia.
